MY ARMY PATCHES DECORATIONS, MEDALS, BADGES, AND RIBBONS

Ever since I retired, I wanted to assemble all of my Army patches, decorations, medals, badges and ribbons on some sort of display board.  But, I kept thinking about how much work that would be to go through all of my boxes of archives and place everything in proper order.  Then I had a stroke of genius.  Just go through my 201 file and find everything online that I was authorized to wear and bingo, in two days I had everything assembled in the proper precedence and it sure was a lot of fun.

I hope you enjoy going through this blog as much as I enjoyed putting it together.  Or like all of my useless information, you can just dump it.

Enjoy.

  3. Ken, did you not pay the rent or what?! You moved around as frequently as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. You must have done a great job of completing your mission at each station causing you to move on to the next. I loved the photos -- didn't know you were ever that young! And yeah you do look a little like Patton. Great display, old friend!

  4. I guess that the 999th Signal Co. you mention here is the same as the 999th Signal Co. (co) that I served in from May 1959 to Sept. 1960. We were stationed at Ft. Dix under 1st Army and spent about three months TDY in Okinawa Oct-Dec 1959. I was in Carrier Platoon. More than 50 years now, but at times it can seem like a couple of weeks ago. Blessings to you.
    Thanks

    1. I apoligize for the looooong delay in answering...I really had no idean that anyone was leaveing any comments. Now I am putting together a Bio for my kids (all between 40 and 50) and found 9 comments while I was re-capturing the data from this blog...I have been trying for 50 years to find people who know anything about the triple 9th and the majority of the comments I read here I am finally starting to find them.

  9. My name is Wayne Root. I was in the 999th Signal Co. (co) from May 1959 to September 1960 at Fort Dix, NJ. We had convoyed to participate in Operation Dragonhead at Ft. Bragg, but very soon after we arrived, were mobilized for SE Asia. Fortunately, we never got that far (original destination reputed to be Laos) and spent three months in Okinawa at Machinato. Great bunch of guys, I think of that outfit and my service then frequently.

  10. Not sure if it was this site or not that facilitated this occurrence, I think it was, but one of the guys in the 999th with me has gotten in touch. I was very surprised, and very moved by the pictures that he sent me. 52 years now since then. WR
